Lantern Festival
The annual custom of lighting lanterns is held on the 15th day of the first month of the Dingyou year, which is February 11, 2017. The homophony of lighting lanterns means adding a child to the family. This year, two male children were born. The parents of the two families first lit lanterns in the house, and the village chief and the clan members first worshiped the ancestors. The lanterns were beautifully arranged, and the names of the male children were written under the lanterns and hung on the newly built Ding fence.
On February 10, 2017, the village chief led the villagers and the Qilin team to the Chegong Temple to welcome Chegong to the village. For details, please watch the short video.
After this series of ceremonies, the new male child is recognized as a member of the clan, which means he can "carry on the family line" and start his own business.
